Welcome to Taurus season

April 19, 2026 - May 20, 2026

The sun moves into the steady, sensual, and luxuriating sign of fixed earth April 19th at 6:39 pm PT. Then Taurus season ends on May 20th at 5:37 pm when the sun moves into Gemini.

We’re coming out of the fire in search of greener pastures, and Taurus season has a soft a nourishing place for us to land but its not without its sharp ledges and patches of quicksand. We can prioritize care and find strength within ourselves to withstand the surprises that may come our way, and to move with the fire that continues to rage on nearby.

The start of Taurus season:

Taurus season begins on April 19th at 6:39 pm PT

The end of Taurus season:

Taurus season ends on May 20th at 5:36 pm PT

Lunations:

Full moon at 11° of Scorpio on May 1st

There’s something expansive and helpful about this culmination, but there’s also something jarring and destabilizing about the energy that it emerges from it. We may need to keep an eye on what helps us to feel regulated, nourished, and grounded, because the ruling planet of this lunation is Mars in Aries, still reeling from the Aries mega stellium. Mars is decisive and prepared to self-determine, so this lunation can help us take the leap into something we feel really passionately about.

New moon at 25° of Taurus on May 16th

The moon loves to be in Taurus, and this new beginning looks supportive for us finding our way toward something that centers us around our values, the beauty in life, and the connections that feel most meaningful to us. We maybe be thinking and talking about the ways we nourish ourselves, the ways we get grounded, and the ways we process some of the madness that has come about so far this year. We may be driven by a strong desire to move in a specific direction and we may feel compelled to face a trigger and embrace healing on a new level, in doing this work, we may find ourselves feeling more optimistic and capable.

Major themes & transits

Ingresses:

The sun enters Taurus on April 19th

Venus enters Gemini on April 23rd

Uranus enters Gemini on April 25th

Pallas enters Aries on April 25th

Mercury enters Taurus on May 2nd

Vesta enters Aries on May 13th

Mercury enters Gemini on May 17th

Mars enters Taurus on May 18th

Venus enters Cancer on May 18th

The sun enters Gemini on May 20th

Retrogrades:

Pluto stations retrograde at 5° of Aquarius on May 6th

Transits to look out for:

The Aries mega-stellium:

We’re unwinding from the mega stellium in Aries as the sun moves into Venus’ earthy home sign, but there’s still a stellium in the cardinal fire sign for most of Taurus season. And even as the planets move forward, two prominent asteroids move into Aries on their heels, so the emphasis continues and will continue for a few years as Neptune and Saturn continue to share the sign. Aries is also home to both malefics for the majority of Taurus season, so while things may feel like they’re calming down a little, this area of life may continue to feel a bit like a pressure cooker—be patient with yourself and find constructive ways to release any frustration that may build up. Tensions in this area may peak as Taurus season gets underway and Mercury conjoins Mars and Saturn. Then tensions may flare up again at the start and middle of May, as Mercury and Mars conjoin Chiron. We may need to talk, write, work, or move through something challenging in May.

Uranus changing signs & its conjunctions to its ruling planets:

One of the most noteworthy transits this Taurus season is Uranus’ move from Taurus into Gemini. After dipping its toes into the mutable air sign for the middle of 2025, as of April 25th, Uranus is back in Gemini until the early 2030’s. While the planet of upheaval and unexpected change makes this big transition, it also makes two significant conjunctions that can help us make sense of both Uranus’ time in Taurus and get some clues about what Uranus’s time in Gemini might bring. Uranus conjoins Venus, the ruler of Taurus, as its final act in Taurus, after spending the better part of a decade in the fixed earth sign. This is a great time to reflect on this transit and think about what it has been like hosting Uranus in the Taurus part of your chart and revolutionizing, shifting, and getting more free in that house, or those houses, in your birth chart. Then, freshly in Gemini, Uranus will conjoin the ruler of its new sign, Mercury. This moment may help us find some clarity and perspective, possibly through conversations, journaling, or surprising news, related to the upcoming years of Uranus in Gemini. This conjunction to Mercury might help us understand what we need from Uranus in this part of our charts, what needs innovating, what needs shaking up, and how we can feel more freedom in this area of life.

Pluto squares, trines, & retrograde:

The planet of magnification, transformation, and power pulls focus this Taurus season, when the sun and Mercury square Pluto as they navigate the early degrees of Taurus, when Venus and Mercury trine Pluto from the early degrees of Gemini, and when Pluto stations retrograde in Aquarius. The squares to Pluto may test our ability to withstand the pressure from the tiny but weighty planet. The trines may help us find power in our ability to go deep. And when Pluto stations retrograde, we enter a period of reflection, a time to go over our relationships to control, obsession, power structures, and investigations.

The importance of prioritizing care:

This Taurus season is inviting us to care deeply for ourselves, as a part of our grounding practices, as a part of our sensuality, as a part of living a good life. This deep care can, and will need to, take many forms, but it’s a consistently relevant theme throughout the month. We begin Taurus season with a Venus conjunction to Uranus, and in many ways, that sets the tone for weird and unexpected sources of comfort, grounding, and satisfaction to manifest. Jupiter’s sextile to Ceres in Taurus is also a tone-setter in this moment—how we care for, feed, and foster growth within ourselves and our communities matters, and can make the difference between us showing up resourced and ready, and us not showing up at all. This energy is reiterated throughout Taurus season as the sun, the moon, and Mercury conjoin Ceres and Sextile Jupiter in the week leading up to the new moon. Then again, near the end of Taurus season, when Venus moves into Cancer and sextiles Mars, freshly in Taurus. How we tend to ourselves, how we tend to others, and how we tend to our values can be driving forces in our lives and in our movements.

Get grounded in what helps you to take good care of yourself, your values, and your communities.

Happy Taurus season!
