Saturn & Neptune met up at a jazz club in Chicago: the harvest full moon, inspired action, & an archetype for Aries that doesn’t include aggression
The harvest full moon will come on Saturday, September 26th, with the moon at 3° of Aries and the sun at 3° of Libra
I am far from a jazz aficionado.
I caught a cold and spent my week in Chicago under the covers in an Airbnb; so on my final day, I followed a suggestion (and a touch of curiosity) to a hole-in-the-wall with vintage posters, high-top tables, and a stage in the middle of the room. While I sipped on an extra-dirty martini, a quintet took the stage, the lights dimmed, and the room became quiet with a mixture of respect and peer pressure. In almost no time at all, the expectations I didn’t have were shattered.
The first note pierced through the silence like a dagger, then exploded into something robust, sweet, and entirely captivating. The audience melted into the music as the band picked everyone up and spun the room around. Faces clenched, with creases breaking them open, sweat dripping from their foreheads—the band moved gracefully but laboriously under the weight. It was a feat of pure strength. I considered for the first time that the instruments might be heavy. That it might be physically challenging to hold them upright and expel the pressure needed to keep them making sounds. I considered for the first time that we might all be heavy. That it might be physically challenging to hold us all upright and expel the pressure needed to keep us fed.
