Welcome to Aquarius season

January 19, 2026 - February 18, 2026

The sun moves into the determined, rational, and innovative sign of fixed air on January 19th at 5:45 pm PT. Then Aquarius season ends on February 18th at 7:52 am when the sun moves into Pisces.

Capricorn season eased us into the new year, giving us space and motivation to make our plans and put them into practice, but 2026 is a year of big change, and Aquarius season brings us the start to those changes. When the sun moves into Aquarius at the end of January, it does so flocked by the same stellium of personal planets that made Capricorn season into such a Capricorn-themed moment in time— Mars, Venus, and Mercury. So now, when we make the shift into Aquarius season, the tonal shift is pronounced; we can see very clearly that we’re in a different moment than the one Capricorn season offered us, and this new moment is full of big changes. As the sun and its backup dancers move into Saturn’s fixed air sign, they meet up with Pluto, encouraging deep investigation and obsession, and the asteroid Vesta, encouraging us to exercise our devotion. This combination of energy sets up Aquarius season as a time for us to dig into what matters, what we value, what we find worthy of our energy and time, so that we can intentionally commit to it. This doesn’t mean making a long list of things we want to do; this means having a focused understanding of our priorities so we can use those top-line commitments, loves, and motivators to help keep us centered through the waves of what is to come.

Aquarius season begins on January 19th at 5:45 pm PT

Aquarius season ends on February 18th at 7:51 am PT

Lunations:

Full moon at 13° of Leo on February 1st

This full moon in Leo is a celebration of authenticity and a recognition of the boundaries that are necessary to protect authentic expression and the cultivation of self. For Leo to be seen for its successes and its grandeur, it must also protect its energy, its community, and its freedom. The earlier part of the day may hold an intensity and defensiveness that may dissipate into something more communicative and connective by the evening.

Annular solar eclipse at 28° of Aquarius on February 17th

This new moon ushers us into a cycle of deep change and gives us a taste of the future. Eclipses can be mini time machines, bridging the space between the reality as we know it and something decidedly new—this is one of those eclipses. This new beginning may come around with some rather sharp edges, unexpected changes, and deep transformations—we have to tend to our fears and our triggers so they don’t encourage us to lash out at things that catch us off guard. This lunation is ruled by Saturn as it inches into a conjunction with Neptune, so how can you find liberation in the dissolution of the old guard?

Major themes & transits

Saturn & Neptune enter Aries:

Neptune enters Aries on January 26th

Saturn enters Aries on February 13th

Saturn conjoins Neptune at 0° of Aries on February 20th (Pisces season)

This Aquarius season brings two notable planetary ingresses, as Saturn and Neptune re-enter Aries. Saturn and Neptune both dipped into the sign of cardinal fire last year, but now, when they move into Aries on February 13th and January 26th, respectively, it will be for the long haul—for Saturn, that’s a few years, and for Neptune, that’s over a decade. In Aries, Neptune is creative and prepared to fight for its ideals, while also being susceptible to the fog of war and the delusions of individualism. In Aries, Saturn is decisive and motivated to build for the future, while also being shortsighted and short-tempered in that pursuit. This energy will take its place as the norm for a little while, but in the early days, we may feel the extreme shift from Pisces’ empathetic, expansive, and at times meandering tone to Aries’ assertive, action-oriented, and at times aggressive one. Once both planets are in Aries, their conjunction is active, but it will not be exact until the first few days of the Pisces season. In these final moments of buildup, we can expect to see reality through a different lens. Saturn and Neptune’s conjunction signals the dissolution of things we once saw as solid and the formation of structures around our ideals. While things change and take new forms, we may find ourselves feeling confused and unsure of what ground is firmly positioned beneath us, and what ground is slipping and prepared to give way to something new.

Welcome to eclipse season

Annular solar eclipse (new moon) at 28° of Aquarius on February 17th

Total lunar eclipse (full moon) at 12° of Virgo on March 3rd (Pisces season)

Aquarius season also brings along our first eclipse of the year, a solar eclipse in the fixed air sign near the north node in Pisces. Before this eclipse, we will have a full moon in Leo (not an eclipse) that will usher us into the larger moment of eclipse season, but the acute portion of eclipse season will take place between the two lunations on February 17th and March 3rd. Eclipses are typically moments of potent change, and this one might feel even more shifty than normal because it is our first eclipse along the Aquarius/ Leo axis in almost a decade, and it previews the change in signs that the nodal axis will undergo later this year. This eclipse is bringing the start of a new cycle, one that asks us to be responsible and rational while still staying open-minded and keeping our perspective global. This new cycle may also be one filled with surprising twists and turns, unsettling changes, and opportunities to get free that we couldn’t have conceived of before things started reshaping themselves.

Uranus takes the spotlight :

Uranus stations direct at 27° of Taurus on February 3rd

Mercury in Aquarius squares Uranus at 27° of Taurus on February 5th

Venus in Aquarius squares Uranus at 27° of Taurus on February 8th

The sun in Aquarius squares Uranus at 27° of Taurus on February 15th

In the first few days of February, Uranus, the planet of disruption, surprise, and invention, stations direct for the final time in Taurus (at least in most of our lifetimes). This station represents our final period of reconciliation, when it comes to the changes Uranus has brought to the Taurus parts of our charts. We get a last chance to embrace these changes and implement them before Uranus moves on to a new sign and new territory come April, when Uranus moves into Gemini. As the stellium of planets moving through Aquarius (the sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars) nears the end of the sign, each planet will form a square to Uranus. During these Uranus squares in the first and second week of February, we can expect the unexpected, and because the planets squaring the planet of upheaval and revolution are all personal planets, we can expect to see the impacts of these changes on our communications, our values, our movements, and our relationships of all kinds.

The end of the traveling stellium & the beginning of Mercury’s retrograde:

Mercury enters its pre-retrograde shadow on February 11th

Mercury stations retrograde at 22° of Pisces on February 25th

Mercury stations direct at 8° of Pisces on March 20th

Mercury leaves its post-retrograde shadow on April 9th

Once we get into February, the stellium of planets traveling together begins to disperse, as Mercury and Venus make their way into Pisces, and Mercury stumbles into its pre-retrograde shadow. Mercury will retrograde through Jupiter’s watery home sign during Pisces season, but in the final week of Aquarius season, the planet of communication will enter the territory that it will backtrack over, later in the month. These final days of Aquarius season may feature ideas, conversation, and stories that we will return to in order to review, reconsider, and reimagine our relationships to the feelings that undergird them.
