The sun moves into Aries on March 20, 2025

Welcome to Aries season!

March 20 - April 19

With a burst of energy, the sun moves into the bold, assertive, and enthusiastic sign of cardinal fire on March 20th at 2:01 am, and Aries season ends on April 19th at 12:56 pm, when the sun moves into Taurus.

Overview:

Before we get into Aries season, I have a small task for you:

Pull up your chart and find Pisces and Aries, what house do these signs span? Based on what you know about the houses, what does the space between them represent for you in your birth chart? This space has been and will continue to be highlighted in prominent, thematic, and meaningful ways, all Aries season but also in this larger moment more generally. Understanding where this energy is showing up in your life can be very helpful for processing the multitude of changes and shifts in energy that March and April have brought along, but can also give you information about how the larger patterns of the mid-2020s are playing out for you.

Happy Equinox:

On March 20, 2025 at 2:01 am Pacific time. the sun is at 0° Aries

As the sun meets the zero degree of Aries, we experience a moment of balance in the form of a sparked match. The equinox is inviting us to set forth, kick-off, set intentions, and embrace the newness of a fresh season—Aries season. But even with this burst of energy, Pisces season introduced a number of themes and transits that are still at play as the equinox rolls us into Aries seasons. It is still eclipse season and Mercury and Venus are still retrograde—in many ways, even though Aries is the beginning of the astrological new year and the zodiac, this Aries season is tying up as many loose ends, as it is loosening new ends. And while this is a great time to take stock of where you are and consider where you want to be, the energy of the moment is more about going with the flow, looking inward, and centering yourself, than it is about forging new paths, asserting your will, and manifesting. Happy Aries season.

Venus & Mercury retrograde:

Venus retrograde: March 1 - April 12 (10° Aries - 24° Pisces) // Shadow period: January 28 - May 15

Mercury retrograde: March 14 - April 7 (9° Aries - 26° Pisces) // Shadow period: February 28 - April 26

Change is in the air, but before we can commit wholeheartedly to moving forward, we have to continue to review how we are communicating, connecting, creating, and thinking because Mercury and Venus are still retrograde. With them both initially in Aries, the first few days of Aries season will bring each of their cazimis, a moment of increased clarity, understanding, and expanded meaning when it comes to the stories of their retrogrades and how we are able to relate to their planetary themes at this moment. As each of these planets makes their way back into Pisces, we will feel the themes shift from the more personal, energetic, and impassioned to the collective, ethereally and emotively expansive, especially because in Pisces they will both engage with the Neptune north node conjunction. By the last week of Aries season, both Mercury and Venus will have stationed direct and will be slowly helping us to prepare to take our retrograde lessons and turn them into forward movement, progress, and the new beginnings we’ve been pondering.

* A note on the retrogrades: Pay attention to the things that come up during the Venus and Mercury retrogrades and their shadow periods that harken back to experiences, feelings, and conflicts from the 3 months of Mars’ retrograde (particularly while Venus and Mercury are moving through Aries).

Aries solar eclipse near the north node in Pisces:

On March 29, 2025, at 3:57 am at 9° of Aries

This Aries season will bring us our final eclipse in Aries near the north node for almost two decades and is helping us to wrap up this story that’s been manifesting for us since July of 2023. The Aries/ Libra eclipse cycle has been prioritizing self-expression, authenticity, and self-assertion, as we learn how to walk away from some of the more challenging codependent tendencies and cope with a hit to justice, exhaustion of pleasantries, and a de-prioritization of the aesthetic. March’s final eclipse in this cycle is helping us to see, manifest around us, all of the work we’ve done to be present through these changes, to be ourselves even when it feels alienating, and to find sweetness where it feels lacking.

Neptune in Aries:

March 30, 2025 - October 22, 2025

January 26, 2025 - May 21, 2038

October 21, 2038 - March 23, 2039

The biggest change that Aries season has to offer us will come at the very end of March, as Neptune, the planet of illusions and delusions begins its year-long process of moving from Pisces where it’s been since 2012, into Aries where it will be until the late 2030’s. Neptune will cross over the line between Pisces and Aries three times between 2025 and 2026, this is the first. In Pisces, Neptune has highlighted the introspective, the collective, and the intuitive when it comes to how we approach spirituality, creativity, and our dreams. While in Aries, Neptune will highlight the boldness and bravery, the individual ambition, and the need to assert oneself when it comes to manifesting a vision. This Aries season we will get the first glimpses of what the next decade, or so, has to offer us, in terms of the more illusory aspects of life.

Lunations:

New moon partial solar eclipse in Aries (9°) on March 29th at 3:57 am

This solar eclipse in Aries is bringing us an ending of a cycle in the form of a new and potentially quite energizing start to something pertaining to the Aries and Pisces houses in our charts. We are kicking off a new way of approaching something, expressing ourselves, or managing and making use of our energy and this is ending an old way of being and bringing a close to a story that has been particularly active since the summer of 2023. Sharing space with Mercury and Chiron, this moment may help us to realize, clarify, or communicate something about our healing process, or how we’ve been able to move through something painful and find something else on the other side. There’s gravity, inspiration, and serious intentions embedded in this moment and we may feel the intensity and not know what to do with ourselves, but the energy is playing out in the exact ways that it needs to. This is not a time to strong-arm the universe in order to make something happen, but rather a moment to be present, to stay center (as best we can), and to let life happen to us for a little while.

Full moon in Libra (23°) on April 12th at 5:22 pm

This full moon in Libra pulls us out of the eclipse energy and into a celebration (if you will) of how far we’ve come along the path of radical self-acceptance, and self-care. We have officially ended this decade’s eclipses in Aries and Libra, and this full moon wants us to consider what we’ve learned, how we’ve grown, and what we still need to keep in mind when it comes to allowing ourselves to exist authentically in this world and to live a vulnerable life filled with needs, desires, wounds, and interdependence. What we feel in our emotional and physical bodies is information for us, and we can put that information to use rather than judging it for showing itself, for how it shows itself, or judging ourselves for housing it in the first place.

There are some needs of ours that only we can meet, some things that only we can give ourselves permission to go after, some instances where we are the only thing standing in our way—how can you be constantly recommitting to being on your own side?

Aries season breakdown:

  • In the time between eclipses and in the midst of a season of retrogrades the sun moves into Aries with a burst of enthusiasm, emboldened by the magnitude and gravity of Pluto’s intensity. The first week of Aries season may bring some clarity and focus to the Venusian things in life and the themes that have been coming up for us all during his Venus retrograde, as Venus and the sun form sextiles with Pluto and conjoin one another. This moment may bring the meaning behind our values to light in a significant and impactful way—we may find ourselves attuned to the deepest needs of our connections and maybe even struck with a creative impulse or two.

  • The second week of Aries season continues to place a thematic focus on clarity, as Mercury follows closely behind Venus, conjoining the sun and sextiling Pluto. This energy may help us to feel more clear-headed, and maybe also inspire us to get curious, investigative, and maybe even a little obsessive when it comes to communicating, interrogating, and exploring ideas. As the week progresses, things begin to take a turn for the less than clear. On Wednesday, Mars moves into a square to Chiron, triggering our wounds around how we are cared for and how we authentically express ourselves. On Thursday, Venus re-enters Pisces and conjoins Neptune, possibly romanticizing things a bit, but also fogging our view of what we want and how we wish to attract it. By Saturday things may feel far from clear as mercury re-enetrs Pisces and conjoins Neptune just after the solar eclipse in Aries perfects. Saturday may feel dramatic and heightened or meandering and a little confusing—maybe both. This week in general, but especially this weekend it is important to consider ways of staying centered within yourself, ways of taking good care of yourself, and ways of navigating illusions, delusions, and inspirations with as much grace as possible. Finally on Sunday, Neptune makes its way into Aries for the first time in 150 years shifting the tone of our collective relationship to spirituality, devotion, and the illusory qualities of life toward Aries’ fiery, impulsive, and somewhat self-centered nature.

  • Even though Neptune has shifted out of Pisces, the mutable water energy remains prominent as Mercury and Venus come into conjunctions with the north node emphasizing the emotional, the spiritual, and the expansiveness within us all, particularly in our ideas, connections, creations, and conversations. Then on Friday, Mars, Uranus, and Saturn come into a supportive alignment that may encourage us to find novel and innovative ways of motivating ourselves for the long-term building that we want to be doing for our future selves. And the weekend comes along with lovely and energizing energy as the sun sextile Jupiter and Venus trines mars, egging us on to find satisfying, connective and engaging ways of enjoying our time and expressing ourselves.

  • The week begins with mixed signals, as Mercury stations direct in Pisces, promising forward movement even though it can’t quite prove that as of yet. Meanwhile, Venus conjoins Saturn and sextiles Uranus, potentially highlighting a somewhat austere and boundaried outlook on beauty and relationship while also prioritizing the need for change and disruption, maybe for the sake of long term growth when it comes to the Venusian areas of life. On Thursday, Mercury, now moving direct, conjoins the north node once again, and on Friday Mars forms a trine to it, highlighting forward movement when it come to actionably and conversationally navigating the depths of our feelings and our collective emotional experiences. Saturday may bring some heightened energy and draw our focus to our healing as the sun comes into a conjunction with Chiron in Aries and an opposition with the moon, forming the full moon in Libra. Then in the evening, Venus stations direct in Pisces, bringing an end to the long season of personal planet retrogrades that we’ve been weathering since the end of 2024.

  • The final few days of Aries season brings self-assertion to the forefront of the collective imagination, as Mercury moves back into Aries and immediately conjoins Neptune, bringing a speaker to the planet of illusion—this week will give us some clues about the message Neptune is bringing to light during its time in Aries. On Thursday, mars moves into Leo, bringing some energy to the surface and possibly helping us to tap into reserves of motivation and passion tat have been hard to access in the wake of Mars’ retrograde, even though it is still in the shadow period. Then on Saturday, the sun moves into Taurus, turning our attention to the basics, to what grounds and steadies us, and to what can nourish us and the world around us.
