The sun moves into Taurus on April 19, 2025

Welcome to Taurus season!
April 19 - May 20
The sun moves into the grounded, luxuriating, and security-oriented sign of fixed Earth on April 19th at 12:56 pm, and Taurus season ends on May 20th at 11:55 am when the sun makes its way into Gemini.
Overview:
Venus-ruled and focused on the earthly, Taurus season is typically a time to lean into the senses and find joy, beauty, and majesty in the mundane and practical elements of life. And while this Taurus season will give us ample time to parse through and prioritize the Venusian, it will also put a spotlight on the exact opposite as well. Taurus is not a sign that typically likes to fight, it would much rather connect over something delicious, comforting, or pleasurable, but Taurus can and will fight for what and who it values.
Tension in the fixed signs:
Sun & Mercury in Taurus x Mars in Leo x Pluto in Aquarius x Lilith & Vesta in Scorpio
While the sun moves through Taurus, we may find ourselves taking stock of what and who we value in our lives (and more specifically in Taurus parts of our charts), reminding us that we ascribe meaning to the fights we take on, we decide what’s worthy of our energy, and what we are willing to defend with our resources. As the sun, and later Mercury, comes into hard aspects with Mars (in the Leo parts of our charts), Pluto (in the Aquarius parts of our charts), as well as Vesta and Lilith (in the Scorpio parts of our charts), we may find ourselves fighting for our values. This moment is asking us what we are willing to devote ourselves to, fight for, go against the grain to achieve, and what price we are willing to pay in order to protect and secure what we value. This tension in fixed signs will permeate most of Taurus season, although the intensity might feel heightened in the early days and then again in the final days of the sun’s transit through fixed earth.
Eyes on Venus:
When Taurus season begins, Venus is at 25° of Pisces
When Taurus season ends, Venus is at 14° of Aries
This Taurus season also brings our attention to Pisces (and eventually Aries), as we watch Venus, the ruler of the sun while in Taurus, wrap up its post-retrograde adventure. For the first week and half of Taurus season, Venus is exalted in Pisces, and entangled in a conjunction with Saturn, Ceres, and the north node, highlighting a need to recognize the limitations of our relationships, the boundaries we need to create within, and the ways we need to invest in the sweet parts of life in order to grow them long term. This can be a sobering moment when it comes to the Venusian aspects of life, but it can also help us to determine what and who we want to foster, commit to, and grow with—another invitation to get serious about our values coming our way this Taurus season. Then, at the very end of April, Venus moves back into Aries, going from a sign where it is held on a pedestal and highly regarded to a sign where it feels misunderstood and uncomfortable. In Aries, Venus can be assertive, determined in its pursuit of what it wants, and independent. Just because it’s not the energy that comes most naturally to Venus, doesn’t mean that it can’t be fun subverting expectations, taking a walk on the wild side, and chasing down what we want.
The lunar cycle:
Taurus New Moon on April 27th// Scorpio Full Moon on May 12th
Both the four-way conjunction in Pisces and the fixed t-square will be particularly active during the time of the new moon in Taurus, and they will have lasting impacts on the lunar cycle more generally this month. Their energies are baked into the soil that we’re planting this new moon-seed in. What we foster, and how it nourishes us, will depend on how we engage with, navigate, and process the energy that comes up in the first week or so of Taurus season.
The end of the personal planet retrogrades (for real this time):
Mercury’s post-retrograde shadow period ends on April 26th
Mars’ post-retrograde shadow period ends on May 1st
Venus’ post-retrograde shadow period ends on May 15th
This Taurus season is an opportunity to commit to our desires, our values, and what makes us feel connected to the people we love, the things we do, and the world around us. While this invitation may be hiding in a bout of frustration or even aggression, it is an invitation nonetheless. We are climbing our way out of the personal planet retrogrades that have marked the last 6 month, and while we are covering territory we’ve been through before, this time we are armed with new lessons, new information, new feelings, and the ability to pivot and create a new paths for ourselves because of this. Taurus season will see the end of each Mercury, Mars, and Venus’ post-retrograde shadow periods, so by the end of Taurus season, we will have completed these retrogrades and we’ll be moving forward and covering new ground in all facets of how we interact with the world around us. We are untangling, revisiting, and tying a bow on this story so we can walk into a new chapter with the wisdom we’ve gained from the reviews of the last few months.
Lunations:
New moon at 7° of Taurus on April 27th at 12:31 pm
This new moon in Taurus presents us with a serious, possibly tense, yet auspicious opportunity to plant a seed with a lasting impact. This new moon puts a fine point on a gridlock building among planets in the fixed signs caught in a power struggle. There’s an intensity coming to light and co-creating this new beginning with us. Meanwhile, the ruler of this lunation, Venus, is currently entangled in a dance with the planet of restrictions, boundaries, and maturity—lending a sobering tone and a level of gravity to our choices, intentions, and what we foster with this new moon.
Full moon at 22° of Scorpio on May 12th at 9:55 am
This full moon in Scorpio presents us with the fallout from the new moon that preceded it, showing us the unpredictable and possibly shocking impacts that our intentions can bring to life. What we put in motion with the start of this lunar cycle two weeks ago finds its momentum and takes shape with this full moon. This moment has a lot to teach us about our values, the wisdom that guides us, and how we practically care for ourselves—and with this lunation being ruled by Mars, this high-point of the cycle may help us find the drive and motivation we need to carry us through the remainder of this lunar cycle.
Taurus season breakdown:
-
The sun moves into Venus’s earthy territory midday Saturday, and this weekend may bring some amorphous intensity that might feel hard to place or misguided in some way, as Mars, freshly back in Leo, trines Neptune, also relatively freshly, in Aries. We may feel a bit of energy, some inspiration, or the drive to do something creative, connective, or spiritual in nature. This feeling might continue into Sunday, as Venus forms a sextile with Uranus encouraging us to engage our wilder sides. But along with some spontaneous fun, and potentially, a new perspective on our relationships, Sunday may bring some deep and excavating conversations or thoughts to the surface as Mercury in Aries forms a sextile to Pluto in Aquarius and the sun squares Mars in Leo. Mercury’s sexile to Pluto can encourage us to investigate what feels shrouded, and magnify what piques our curiosity, while the sun’s square to Mars may shine a light on some conflict implicating our egos (and the feelings that accompany that), and bring some of our frustrations from the Mars retrograde up for us to deal with.
If this weekend’s tension kicks up insecurity, fear, or discomfort, do your best to stay with the process; it’s helping us to get in touch with our authentic sources of power and authority.
-
The tension from the weekend may carry into this first full week of Taurus season, as the sun squares Pluto on Monday morning, highlighting some power struggles and issues with authority that may be dimming your light, and our collective light. The contention in fixed signs continues with an opposition between Mars and Pluto on Saturday, the third in the last 6 month period. This whole week may feel like an uphill battle in some ways, as we find what drives and empowers us, and figure how to identify, pursue, and win a battle worthy of our energy and our defenses. Meanwhile, Saturn, the north node, and Venus are entangled in a conjunction at the final degrees of Pisces all week, helping us to set boundaries in our relationships, build lasting sweetness for ourselves, and get in touch with the beauty of community, collective creation, and the limitations we may face when we separate ourselves from the whirlpool of life around us, or when we lose too much of ourselves in it. Both of these stories culminate in a serious new moon in Taurus on Sunday. While the moon loves being in Taurus, this new moon is asking us what we're willing to fight for, how we secure what’s meaningful to us, and how we find our power without isolating ourselves in the process.
-
The first few days of the week give us some space to process Sunday’s new moon and the subtle gravity of the new chapter that opened up along with it. The first transit of the week comes along on Wednesday with Venus’ ingress back into Aries as it retraces its steps from the retrograde. In Aries, Venus can show us what we desire, as much through what repulses us and what makes us envious, as it does through what attracts us. The following day, the north node in Pisces forms a sextile to Uranus in Taurus, encouraging us to take the less predictable route and to find meaning in the disruptions and detours we may encounter midweek. On Friday ,Venus conjoins Neptune, supporting us in finding greater meaning, in what brings us joy and pleasure, but also encouraging us to take it too far when it comes to our connections and our (possibly impulsive) pursuit of beauty—don’t lose your head completely following your heart this week. The week comes to a close with Pluto stationing retrograde in Aquarius on Sunday, pulling our attention back to the power dynamics, investigations, and tension of last week, possibly with some resolution, but more likely with another interconnected rabbit hole to dive down.
-
On Monday, Mercury in Aries forms a sextile to Jupiter in Gemini, helping us to make sense of how the details fit into the larger picture. This can be great for clarifying conversations, planning big-picture projects, and getting our ideas organized. Then on Tuesday, Mercury conjoins Chiron in Aries, giving a voice to an insecurity or a wound related to how to express ourselves, and our self-determination. Also on Tuesday, Venus sexiles Pluto, magnifying a creative pursuit and helping us to dig a little deeper when it comes to our relationships. Then on Saturday, to close out the week, Mercury moves into Taurus, where it holds information close to its chest—Mercury in Taurus is decisive, practical, and measured in its sweetness.
-
This week begins with a disruptive and practical full moon in Scorpio that may show us some fallout from the first couple of weeks of Taurus season, while encouraging us to keep our eyes on the long-term prize. Also on Monday, Mercury in Taurus squares Pluto in Aquarius, bringing an edge and a magnifying glass to our ideas, thoughts, and conversations—challenging us to look closely at the ways control, manipulation, and existing power dynamics may be playing a role. On Thursday, the sun in Taurus sextiles the north node in Pisces, which may have us feeling a bit more self-assured, a bit more confident, and a bit more comfortable in the spotlight midweek. Then on Saturday, the sun conjoins Uranus, bringing disruption and unpredictability into the spotlight, then Mercury squares Mars in Leo, which may bring an element of aggression to the ways we communicate. Finally, on Sunday, Jupiter in Gemini sextiles Chiron in Aries and squares the nodes in Pisces and Virgo. Sunday invites us to take pleasure in our healing and build our worldview around knowing ourselves in a deep and empowering way. The stories we tell about life work with us to co-create how we actually live. This week may help us put words to some of what we were feeling in the earlier part of Taurus season, bringing the tension back around to be expressed, and maybe even released.
-
The final act of Taurus season is a sextile between the sun and Saturn in Pisces, early on Tuesday morning, helping us to refocus our attention on what we want to grow longterm and the legacies we want to build. Then just before noon, the sun moves into Gemini.
