The sun moves into Libra on September 22, 2025

Welcome to Libra season!

September 22 - October 22

The sun moves into the charismatic, aesthetic, and justice-oriented sign of cardinal air at 11:20 am on September 22nd with the equinox, and Libra season ends on October 22nd at 8:51 pm when the sun moves into Scorpio.

Overview:

Welcome to Libra season! The sun joins Mercury and the moon in the sign of scales, with the equinox, and we are checking in, taking stock, and trying to embrace a softer atmosphere. Libra season offers us the chance to prioritize finding balance and alignment, and we may appreciate it even more than we typically might because it comes on the heels of eclipse season.

Libra season is laying the groundwork for the future, and with Mercury’s next retrograde coming during Scorpio season, the ideas, thoughts, and conversations that emerge in the final days of Libra season may resurface in November.

Venus cleans up after the eclipses:

October 4th at 2:20 am: Venus conjoins the south node at 18° of Virgo

October 8th at 4:40 am: Venus in Virgo sextiles Jupiter at 23° of Cancer

October 11th at 4:10 am: Venus in Virgo opposes Saturn at 26° of Pisces

Venus is the final planet (except for the moon) making its way through Virgo this year, so it's the final planet engaging with the nodal axis in the same way that the sun and Mercury did during eclipse season. When Venus passes over that territory, it will have something to say about the eclipse story we just lived through. It may also have a softness and sweetness to lend to these parts of our charts following the harshness of the eclipses. Venus will conjoin the south node, helping us to release something that isn’t meshing with our values, aesthetics, or needs for connection. Venus will sextile Jupiter, inviting us to seek out connection, pleasure, and abundance in small and emotionally embodied ways. Venus will oppose Saturn, and it may harken back to the events of September’s solar eclipse in Virgo. This opposition is asking us to take our relationships, creative practices, values, and finances seriously. Our emotional boundaries are on display, and this can give us a chance to showcase their strength, but it can also expose any cracks in their foundations.

Mercury x Mars:

October 19th at 11:51 pm: Mercury conjoins Mars at 19° of Scorpio

While Mercury is investigating the shadowy and deep fixed waters, it meets up with its ruling planet, Mars. This conjunction can add some bite and some intensity to our conversations and ideas. In Scorpio, Mercury prefers not to mince words, generally speaking, but when it conjoins Mars, we are confronted with the consequential nature of our words and actions.

Neptune re-enters Pisces:

October 22nd at 2:50 am: Neptune rx moves into Pisces

Neptune in Pisces: April 4, 2011 - August 4, 2011; February 3, 2012 - March 30, 2025; October 22, 2025 - January 26, 2026

This is the finale of Neptune in Pisces. On October 22nd, just before the sun moves into Scorpio, Neptune moves back into the mutable water sign it has been dancing with since 2011. In Pisces, Neptune invites us to find spiritual meaning and inspiration meandering through the fog. Embracing the wonder, disorientation, and all, is helping us erode the psychic, spiritual, and emotional boundaries between us and our dreams. That also means that until January of 2026, we will be contending with the illusions and the deception that Neptune can travel alongside, in the Pisces parts of our charts, once more.

Jupiter x Chiron:

October 1st at 1:59 pm: Mercury in Libra squares Jupiter at 22° of Cancer & October 3rd at 11:04 am: Mercury in Libra opposes Chiron at 25° of Aries

October 16th at 10:42 pm: The sun in Libra squares Jupiter at 24° of Cancer & October 17th at 4:40 pm: The sun in Libra opposes Chiron at 24° of Aries

October 21st at 5:25 am: New moon at 28° of Libra

October 23rd at 3:19 pm: Jupiter in Cancer squares Chiron at 24° of Aries

Finally, there is a Jupiter-Chiron square exacting just after the sun moves into Scorpio (so we’ll talk more about that transit next month), but builds and surfaces throughout Libra season. As Chiron and Jupiter move into that square, Mercury, the sun, and even the new moon in Libra will trigger it, opposing Chiron and squaring Jupiter, forming a cardinal t-square. Chiron and Jupiter's clash may pick at a wound related to identity and autonomy, and the old tools we’ve used to avoid or placate these feelings may not work this time around; however, allowing ourselves to heal through the pain is the point, but we may find the exact tools we need for a new approach lying along our path. When Mercury enters this tension, we may be exposed to new healing perspectives through word of mouth, and we may also experience conversations and internal narratives that reveal the vulnerability of our wounds. When the sun highlights this dynamic, something we need to heal to be able to move forward may come to the light, but if we look around, we may also be able to find an expert ready to help us do that healing. With the new moon in Libra engaging this square, the new cycle we begin with that lunation may have great healing potential for us as well.

Lunations:

Full moon at 14° of Aries on October 6th at 8:47 pm

A powerful and assertive culmination that may help us see how we transform our own internal drive into external acts of self-determination. In the spotlight of this full moon, we may be exposed to something deceptive or even triggering, but in seeing through them, we can also see our own strength more clearly. This moment highlights our ability and asks us to tap into what we need to in order to feel empowered.

New moon at 28° of Libra on October 21st at 5:25 am

The new moon in Libra on October 21st invites us to set fresh intentions and set our sights on finding more balance and alignment. We may need to sit with something that hurts with this new moon, but we are initiating cohesion and meaningful connection in our lives. Little boost from Venus also in Libra while it rules this lunation. Our voices are more powerful than we know in this moment—speak your intentions into reality with confidence!

Libra season breakdown:

  • Libra season begins like many solar seasons have been lately, engaged in the outer planet’s conversation in the early degrees of Fire and Air signs. The first full day of Libra season sees the sun oppose Neptune in Aries, trine Uranus in Gemini, and trine Pluto in Aquarius. In these first few days, we may find ourselves projecting meaning onto our circumstances in potentially misdirected and delusional ways. This moment might also be invigorating and empowering, when it comes to our ability and desire to investigate and innovate. Then on Wednesday, Mars, freshly in Scorpio, moves into a square with Pluto in Aquarius; this might be a particularly challenging moment, pushing us to confront how relationships with power dynamics, obsession, drive, and aggression. This energy may hang in the air for a few days, but committing ourselves to the process of working through these tensions can be incredibly generative for us long-term.

  • When October rolls around, our attention shifts to Mercury in Libra as it moves into a square with Jupiter in Cancer and an opposition to Chiron in Aries. This energy can magnify old wounds related to our self-image, our self-determination, and how we express our identity and autonomy. We may face challenging information, thought patterns, or conversations in the middle of the week. However, we may also feel more access to a bounty of tools to heal, soothe, and care for the parts of us that hurt. Then over the weekend, we may encounter some Venusian fatigue as Venus conjoins the south node. We are letting go of something related to our connection values or finances.

  • On Monday morning, Mercury moves from Libra, the diplomatic and charismatic air sign, into the brooding and intense water sign, Scorpio. Then on Monday evening, the full moon in Aries exacts, bringing us some closure related to how we draw the necessary power and motivation to prioritize self-determination. This culmination may feel loud and dramatic in some ways, but it is co-present with Neptune and Chiron, bookending Aries, so there’s also something healing and deeply meaningful about this, but also possibly a little emotionally triggering and misleading. On Tuesday, Mercury in Scorpio squares off with Pluto in Aquarius, providing us with some tension to work through, in the form of obsessive thoughts, intellectual depths to explore, and investigative conversations to have. On Wednesday, Venus in Virgo forms a sextile to Jupiter in Cancer, providing us with a sweet moment to capitalize on. When the benefics come together, especially in a supportive aspect, we may find there are opportunities for connection, generosity, and abundance everywhere, if we make the choice to be present and to engage with receptivity. With Venus in the sign of its fall and Jupiter in the sign of its exaltation, there might be something extra sweet in the Cancerian realms of care-taking, nurturing, protection, and emotional expression for us to enjoy and make use of. But after a cute little meeting with Jupiter, on Saturday, Venus will move into an opposition to Saturn, freshly back in Pisces. When the planet of love, connection, and beauty comes up against the planet of accountability and limits, we may find that we need to place or enforce boundaries for our own good, in the realm of relationships and connections, or creativity practices, and how we seek out beauty.

  • The Venusian themes from last weekend stretch into this week as Venus moves from the strictness of its opposition to Saturn into its diurnal home sign of Libra. In Libra, Venus is comfortable expressing its loveliness while it creates an easeful and approachable environment for connection and justice. Venus’ transit through Libra can help us to connect more deeply with each other and with our values. Then in the evening, Venus moves into an opposition with Neptune in Aries, adding a delusional and maybe misguided energy to the ways we seek out beauty and connection. Also on Monday evening, Pluto stations retrograde in Aquarius, pulling focus to the power dynamics at play and the ways we can, both individually and collectively, dig deep and magnify our own sources of power to meet the moment with confidence. On Tuesday, Venus, freshly in Libra, forms trines to Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius, encouraging us to view our values and connections from innovative and unexpected directions, and adding a Venusian flare to the ways we’re examining and reflecting on the Plutonian power dynamics in the air. At the end of the work week, the sun stumbles into an ongoing dynamic squaring Jupiter and opposing Chiron, as they slowly approach a square to each other. This moment may highlight something that has been triggering us, something that we have been healing on a new level, slowly over time. When the weekend rolls around, Mercury and Mars align in Scorpio, adding a sharpness and a drive to what we say and how we say it. The proper motivation can help us make our ideas and conversations manifest, and we can feed our sense of drive by adopting a more authentically encouraging internal voice and narrative.

  • The final few days of Libra season bring us the new Moon in Libra, a chance to set new intentions in the Libra parts of our charts and of our lives. This might be a sweet time to kick off something relational, or something connected to art and beauty—this new moon is co-present with its ruling planet, Venus, as the planet of pleasure and connection moves through its home sign. The new cycles we’re beginning may be intertwined in reflections of how we feel through the pain of old wounds and how we seek out new perspectives and expand the possibilities of how we heal through that pain. This theme is woven throughout much of Libra season, and this new moon might offer us the chance to change our approach to these parts of our lives moving forward. Then the following day, and on the final day of Libra season, we see one of the most significant transits of the month, when Neptune re-enters Pisces. Neptune is returning to the sign of mutable water, prepared to finish up its time in the sign. Neptune has been traveling in and out of Pisces since April of 2011, and this is the final piece of that journey. Neptune will be in Pisces from now until January 26, 2026, when it will move on into Aries for the era. In Pisces, Neptune is helping us embrace the many perspectives and worldviews around us and find deep meaning in getting lost in the wonder. Later that evening, the sun moves into Scorpio, shifting the energy, embracing Mars’s leadership, and bringing an end to Libra season.
